Andreas Gursky: Cocoon II (detail)
Acclaimed photographer of the late-capitalist sublime, German artist Andreas Gursky is widely considered one of the most important photographers working today.
Known for complex, large-format images that capture the zeitgeist of our current age of globalisation, Gursky documents how new forms of technological and social organisation are reflected in everyday life – from the anonymity of modern hotel lobbies, apartment buildings and warehouses, to the collective frenzy of pop concerts, stock exchanges and political rallies.
